In the event of an on-campus medical emergency dial 911 immediately and notify Campus Police (504)520-7490.
Urgent Care & After-Hours Medical Care
IIf you need assistance, choose one of the following options:
- Xavier Ochsner Health Services medical staff is available Monday – Friday 8:30AM - 4:30PM and Friday 8:30AM - 4:00PM tto all enrolled Xavier students. Students are seen as walk-ins; however, any emergency will take precedence.
- On Campus - After hours, weekend, holidays - notify Campus Police and the residence hall manager on duty.Emergency Medical Services (911) will be notified as appropriate.
- Go to the nearest Urgent Care for Services

Ochsner on Call
- Ochsner on Call provides nurse triage, appointment booking, health education, and advisory services from 5:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year. Ochsner on Call nurses are supported by an on-call physician.
- For non-life-threatening issues outside of regular clinic hours, you can call 1-800-231-5257, a free after-hours nurse care line to speak with a Registered Nurse.
Off-Campus Transportation
- Transportation, if necessary, is available to an off-campus medical facility by cab or ride share or ambulance. Any fees incurred are the responsibility of the student in any situation.
On-Campus Transportation
- A student who is ill or injured may call the Center for Health and Wellness @ (504)520-7396 or Campus Police @ (504)520-7490 for assistance. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will also be notified as appropriate. This service is reserved only for situations where the student is unable to walk or too ill to make it to the clinic on their own.
